New Service: Online Library Card Renewal

Post Date:July 28, 2025 9:00 a.m.

Did you know your Lewisville library card expires every two years? Now, there is a convenient way for library cardholders to renew their card with Online Library Card Renewal! Keep reading for all the details.

Existing cardholders whose address of record is in Denton County may now renew their card online. Parents can even renew their child’s card online. Cardholders who reside outside of Denton County will need to visit the Library in person to renew their card.

Cardholders may renew online no more than 60 days before their card expires and up to six months after their card expires. Cards that are blocked due to overdue items or an account balance will not be able to renew their card online until their library items are returned and the account balance is paid. Patrons who have a Teen card but who have turned 18 will need to visit the Library in person with their photo ID to renew and update their account as an Adult.

Cardholders will need their library card number and PIN to renew online. During the renewal process, cardholders may update their preferred name, address, notification preference, home phone, email address, and opt into receiving text notifications.

Cardholders receive an email reminder 30 days before their card expires and 30 days after expiration. The email notification includes a link to the Online Library Card Renewal system or you can visit library.cityoflewisville.com/RenewCard.
