StoryCorps Mobile Tour coming to Lewisville Library

Post Date:November 17, 2025 9:15 a.m.

Lewisville Public Library and the non-profit StoryCorps will team up December 5-8, 2025, to collect personal stories from DFW-area residents, and to educate the public on how to record and preserve their own stories using free StoryCorps tools.

The StoryCorps Mobile Tour’s visit to DFW will include a multi-day stop at Lewisville Public Library, located at 1197 W. Main St, Lewisville, TX. At the Library, StoryCorps staff will set up recording equipment and guide area residents through the process of telling and recording stories that are important to them–stories about moments big or small, family histories, personal identity, and more. A limited number of one-hour recording sessions are available on Friday-Saturday, December 5-6, and Monday, December 8, 2025. Advance registration is required to secure a session. Visit library.cityoflewisville.com/Adults or call the Library’s Adult Services Desk at 972.219.3779 to register. Participants will receive a digital copy of their story, and will also have the option to add their story to the StoryCorps digital archive at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, preserving it for future generations.

In addition, the public is invited to attend the free “Preserving Stories Workshop” at Lewisville Public Library on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. In this workshop, StoryCorps staff will demonstrate how to use the non-profit’s free recording and archiving tools to collect one’s own personal stories and family histories. No advance registration is required to attend this event, which will be held in the Library’s Bennett Program Room on the first floor.

Lewisville Public Library primarily serves the residents of Lewisville, TX, and surrounding north Texas communities, and also extends borrowing privileges to all Texas residents with proof of address and a government issued photo ID. The Library’s mission is to be a comfortable, inclusive gathering place where the community connects with resources and experiences that inspire and encourage personal enjoyment and growth.

Founded in 2003, StoryCorps is committed to the idea that everyone has an important story to tell and that everyone’s story matters. The StoryCorps Mobile Tour furthers the organization’s mission “to help us believe in each other by illuminating the humanity and possibility in us all — one story at a time” by collecting stories throughout the U.S. The StoryCorps digital story archive at the Library of Congress is the largest single collection of human voices ever gathered.
