Library awarded grant for book locker
The Lewisville Public Library was recently awarded funding from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC), under its Special Projects Grant program, to expand library services to east Lewisville.
The $73,350 grant will allow the Library to acquire and implement a book locker machine and RFID-enabled smart book return at the Castle Hills North Community Center at 201 Anna Avenue, easily accessible off Windhaven Parkway. This location will expand the reach of the Library, particularly to community members who experience barriers when accessing the library and its resources due to distance from the library building.
The book locker and book return will provide cardholders with a convenient location from which to pick up and return library books and other materials. In partnership with the Castle Hills HOA, the Library also plans to provide some programming at this location. The book locker and book return will be accessible 24/7 to any Lewisville Public Library user. The Library anticipates the book locker and book return services to be ready to launch in early 2027.
The Lewisville Book Locker and Book Return project is made possible, in part, by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (Grant # LS-260847-OLS-26) to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act.
