GENERAL:

  1. To facilitate the Library's Mission, library patrons are expected to demonstrate respect for public property, library staff, and the rights of other patrons through adherence to the following guidelines.

CODE OF CONDUCT:

  1. Patrons are expected to obey city, state, and federal laws and ordinances. Persons observed violating said laws will be reported to proper authorities.
  2. Responsible behavior is expected. Behavior that disturbs the tranquility of the Library and its patrons is prohibited, including but not limited to loud voices, noises, running, jumping, offensive language, and harassment.
  3. Children aged nine and under must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian at all times. Parents are responsible for their child's behavior.
  4. Children must abide by the same rules of behavior that apply to all patrons. Children persisting in disruptive behavior will be asked to leave the Library and library privileges may be suspended or revoked.
  5. In the event a child aged 12 or under is left at the Library at closing, supervising staff will assess the situation. Staff may contact the police.
  6. Beverages in lidded containers are permitted in the Library, except in the Digital Media Lab and at makerspace equipment.
  7. Food consumption is permitted only in the downstairs lobby near the west entrance, or when provided during library programs.
  8. Sleeping is prohibited in the Library, for safety reasons. Staff will wake people who are found sleeping to ensure they are not experiencing a medical emergency and so they can secure their belongings.
  9. Clothing, footwear, and other appropriate attire are required in the Library.
  10. Pervasive odors, disruptive to library use, are prohibited.
  11. Only service animals recognized by the Americans with Disabilities Act are permitted. Animals must be under the control of the handler at all times. The Library may include animals in library programs.
  12. Personal belongings should be monitored at all times and should not block or impede access to library services.
  13. Using public restrooms for shaving, bathing, or any other purpose other than for which they are intended is prohibited.
  14. Failure to abide by City of Lewisville and Library guidelines or the library staff's instruction may result in expulsion from the Library. The Director of Library Services is authorized to revoke or limit library privileges, issue criminal trespass warnings, or pursue criminal prosecution. 

 PROCEDURE:

  1. New accounts have a 10 item limit on the date of registration.
  2. The maximum item checkout per account is 50.
  3. Audio/visual materials are limited to 10 items per media type per account.
  4. Videos and specialty items including, but not limited to tablets, wifi hotspots, storytime backpacks, specialty kits, and Lucky Day items are loaned for seven days. Books and other materials are loaned for 21 days.
  5. Renewal loan period starts the day of renewal. Item must be presented at the Library for a third renewal. Items with hold requests may not be renewed.
  6. A maximum of 10 holds may be placed per account. Notification will be made by email, text message, and/or phone when the item becomes available. Items for pick-up will be held for six days. The library card used to place the hold will be required at checkout.
  7. Internet usage: Internet usage is governed by Administrative Policy 4.1.20.

FEES:

  1. The City of Lewisville Fee Schedule contains all fees related to the Lewisville Public Library.
