Projects & Achievements
The Friends group donated "The Alphabet Chair" bronze sculpture to the Cynthia Bennett Children's Wing of the Library.
"The Alphabet Chair" is a celebration of language, art, and community. Each letter in “The Alphabet Chair” has its own individual texture imprinted from nature or objects. For example, “A” is for “Animals,” “B” is for “Buttons,” and “C” is for “Coral.” Children of all ages enjoy sitting in the chair and solving the mystery of each letter’s origins.
The Friends organization has also been awarded two Verizon Foundation grants for books, media and technology for the library. They have also received grants from Praxair, SAM's Club, Target and Wal-Mart.
