ILL Request Instructions

IMPORTANT FIRST STEP
Users must first search the Library's online catalog for the title of the item they seek to determine if the item is owned by the Lewisville Public Library. Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requests may only be made for items not owned by the Lewisville Library. Click HERE for the Library's full ILL Guidelines.


Placing an ILL Request

  1. Go to the Library's website at library.cityoflewisville.com
  2. Hover your mouse over Using the Library, then click Interlibrary Loan.
  3. Click the green 'Submit ILL Request Here' button. This button will take you to the Texas Group Catalog.
  4. From the Texas Group Catalog, click in the Search box. Type the title or author of the item you seek. Select Libraries Worldwide from the drop-down menu. Click Search.
  5. Once the search results appear, you can add additional limits to your results on the left side of the screen or sort your results by clicking on the drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the screen. 
  6. After finding your desired item, click on the title of the item (do not click in the check box). Look at the list of libraries that own the item. If there is at least one library listed that is willing to loan the item, then you can place the ILL request by clicking the blue Request Item button at the top right corner of the list of libraries.
  7. A new screen will ask you to choose your home library. Lewisville Public Library cardholders should select Lewisville Public Library from the list of libraries. Click Continue.
  8. Enter your Lewisville library card number in ALL CAPS as the username. Enter your library account PIN as the password. Click Login. (Note: You can reset your library account PIN from the Library's catalog or by calling the Accounts Desk at 972.219.3576)
  9. Enter any additional information or instructions related to your request, if necessary. PIckup Location must remain Lewisville Public Library. Click Continue.
  10. Congratulations! You submitted an ILL Request successfully. A confirmation should appear to alert you that the request was submitted.

NOTE: If your request attempt is denied, it is likely because there is an issue with your library account. Please contact the Accounts Desk at 972.219.3576 for library account assistance .  


Checking the Status of an ILL Request

You can log back into the Texas Group Catalog at any time using your library card number and PIN to check the status of your ILL Request.

  1. Go to the Library's website at library.cityoflewisville.com
  2. Hover your mouse over Using the Library, then click Interlibrary Loan.
  3. Click the green 'Check ILL Status' button. This button will take you to the Texas Group Catalog login screen.
  4. When prompted to choose your home library, Lewisville Library cardholders should select Lewisville Public Library from the list, then click Continue.    
  5. Enter your Lewisville library card number in ALL CAPS as the username. Enter your library account PIN as the password. Click Login. (Note: You can reset your library account PIN from the Library's catalog or by calling the Accounts Desk at 972.219.3576)
  6. Any active ILL requests will appear on the screen. Each request will list the status of the item regarding where it is in the process. A list of status categories is provided below.
  7. When you are finished viewing your ILL request status, click Sign Out in the upper right corner.

 ILL Request Status Categories
 Cancelled Request has been cancelled by possible lending libraries.
 Idle There is a problem with the request and library staff are reviewing it. Possible problems are that the Lewisville Public Library already owns the item, it's a duplicate request, patron's library account is expired or blocked, etc. The patron will be contacted by library staff if necessary, to resolve the problem.
 In Process Request is being processed by a lending library. Item has NOT shipped yet. 
 Lost Requested item is not available for lending because it is lost. 
 New Request sent for staff approval. 
 Not Supplied Request cannot be filled by a lending library. 
 Overdue The lending library is notifying the Lewisville Public Library that the items is due back to them.
 Pending Request has been submitted and has begun the process of being requested from other libraries. 
 Recalled The lending library needs the item returned to them as soon as possible. 
 Received  Item has been received by the Lewisville Public Library. Patron will receive an automated notification via phone or email when the item is ready to be picked up. Patron may also check their Lewisville library account online to view available holds. 
 Returned Item has been checked in and shipped back to the lending library. Returned items will be removed from the system once the lending library has received the item and cleared it from the Texas Group Navigator system.
 Shipped Item has been shipped to the Lewisville Public Library. Items may take 1-2 weeks to arrive at the Lewisville Public Library, depending on the location of the lending library.
