Online Library Card Registration Now Available

Post Date:August 23, 2024 9:00 a.m.
Using the Library is easier than ever! The Lewisville Public Library now offers a convenient online application for library card registration. Any resident of the state of Texas is eligible for a free Lewisville library card. However, this online card application is only available to adult residents of the City of Lewisville.

Lewisville residents ages 18 and up who do not already have a library card may visit library.cityoflewisville.com/librarycard to register for a full privilege card. You will need your government issued ID and an email address to register. After successfully completing the online application, you will receive a confirmation email that includes your library card number. Once you have your card number you can immediately begin borrowing from the Library's digital collections, accessing online resources, and placing holds on items for pick up.

A physical library card will not be issued with this online process. It is recommended that you save your library card number in the cloudLibrary mobile app where it can be used in-person at the Library to check out physical materials or through the cloudLibrary app to borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks, and digital magazines. When you visit the Library to borrow physical materials, you will need to present your library card number in the cloudLibrary app or your driver's license/ID.

If you are a Texas resident but do not live in Lewisville, please visit the Library in-person to get a card. Stop by the Library Accounts Desk and present your government issued photo ID and proof of Texas address. A staff member will issue you a physical card. It only takes a few minutes!

Parents and legal guardians wishing to get a library card for their child will still need to visit the Library in-person. Children and teens ages 5-17 may receive a full privilege card in their name, if accompanied by their parent or guardian with the proper identification and proof of address.

Online card renewal for Denton County residents is coming soon! Library cards expire every two years.
