All Hive equipment training is available online. Additionally, Fusion Pro laser training is currently offered in person once a month. Please see below for available dates. Reservation is required due to limited availability.

This informational training will be packed with everything you need to skip the Helix training and go straight to using the Fusion Pro laser cutter. Learn the basics of engraving and vector cutting on the laser cutter and see the machine in action. Class will begin promptly at 6 p.m. Open to adults and teens 13 and up. Registration for each session opens exactly two weeks prior at 6 p.m.

Sunny Stitches: Embroidered Tea Towels

Soak up the summer vibes in this all-levels embroidered tea towel class! We’ll create bright, beachy designs using simple decorative stitches that are perfect for beginners and fun for experienced makers too. Come stitch and relax, and leave with charming hand-embroidered towels. Open to makers 13 and up. Registration opens July 25 at 1 p.m.

Back by popular demand: buttonmaking! Drop by anytime from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to make 1.5”, 2.25”, or 3” pin-back buttons with the Library’s button makers. All supplies provided, but feel free to bring any small art/images on thin paper that you may want to use for buttons. Free. Teens 13-18 only.
Custom Cards on Silhouette Cameo

Get creative with fall-inspired cards using our Silhouette Cameo machines! Learn how to personalize a card template with custom text, assign colors to different design elements, and add pen-change pauses for multicolor creations. We'll guide you step-by-step, and you'll leave with several festive handmade cards ready to share with family and friends. Ages 13 and up. Registration opens August 22 at 1:30 p.m.
Arduino for Absolute Beginners

This workshop is for those who want to know, “what is this Arduino thing?” We will walk you through the first exercises in our SparkFun Inventor’s Kits (version 4.0a), such as blinking an LED, using a potentiometer and photoresistor. Participants are encouraged to use our laptops, as we cannot troubleshoot issues on participants’ own devices. The Redboard closely resembles Arduino Uno. Specifications of the kit components and exercises can be found at learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/sparkfun-inventors-kit-experiment-guide---v40/ This workshop is for people with no Arduino experience; no advanced programming concepts will be covered. Attendees should be comfortable with computers. Open to makers 16 and up. Registration opens August 29th at 1:30 p.m.

Beginner 3D Design: Tinkercad

Learn the basics of 3d design using the online CAD software, Tinkercad. All ages welcome. Makers under 13 need to bring an adult. Registration opens September 19 at 2 p.m.
Bling, Don’t Ban!

Celebrate Banned Books Week by blinging out your favorite banned book! Participants bring their own banned or frequently challenged book. The library supplies the bling. Ages 13 and up. Registration opens September 26 at 2 p.m.
Macabre Menagerie

Discourage your neighbors from overstaying their welcome with this unsettling wall art. Participants will mount a fake bug or arachnid onto a plaque, adding a bit of their own creative flair. The specimens are plastic; the plaques are wood. No actual creatures will be harmed. High-temperature hot glue guns will be used. Open to makers 11 and up. Registration opens Oct. 10 at 1:30 p.m.
Woodland Book Corners

Celebrate sweater-weather reading with a quick and cozy craft! Create fall-themed felt book corners featuring leaves, acorns, or mushrooms while learning simple decorative stitches and finishing techniques. This short workshop is perfect for beginners, and you'll head home with one or two handmade book corners for your favorite books. Open to participants ages thirteen and up. Registration opens October 31 at 2 p.m.
Sublimation Key Holders

Add a little personality to your home with a customized key holder. It’s recommended to create a Canva account prior to class, though it is not required. If you have specific images you want to use, bring them on a USB drive or email them to yourself to access in class. Ages 13 and up. Registration opens November 7 at 2 p.m.
Speed Paint your Miniature Figures

Learn the fundamentals of speed painting your miniature game figurines in this interactive session. Our presenter will show you the way to drybrush and speed paint using a selection of colors in less time than when painting with the traditional method. All supplies are provided. Ages 13 and up. Registration opens November 21 at 11 a.m.
Faux Neon Signs
Saturday, December 12 | 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Join guest instructors Carolyn Marco and J.C. Bigornia for this multi-media project. Participants will use flexible LED filament and a 3D-printed frame to create a tiny imitation-neon sign. High-temperature soldering tools will be used. Open to makers 16 and up. Registration opens Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m.
