Preserve your memories! The Digital Media Lab (DML) offers equipment and software to convert print and analog media to digital formats. Visit the Adult Services Desk to reserve and borrow the equipment. The following equipment and software is available for use in the Digital Media Lab only.

See equipment details below. A vending machine of office supplies for purchase is available in the Library's Copy & Print Center which offers USB drives, SD cards, and DVD-R discs that are compatible with the DML equipment.
Patrons must have a valid full-privilege library card in good standing to use the DML. Be sure to review the Digital Media Lab Guidelines for full details on using the DML.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
The MovieMaker Pro converter is only compatible with 8mm and Super 8 film. The 8mm/Super 8 format is a motion picture format that was popular in the 1970s and 80s for filming home movies.
The MovieMaker Pro is not a commercial or professional grade tool. It is offered as a tool to preserve home movies and personal 8mm/Super 8 film collections.
The converter does not convert sound. Only the film image will be converted to digital.
The converter is compatible with film reels up to seven inches.
Patron must provide their own SD/SDHC memory card. The card capacity must be no larger than 32GB. SDHC 16GB cards are available for sale in the Library's Office Supply Vending Machine.
Conversion of 8mm/Super 8 film can be time consuming. The machine is capturing frame-by-frame. For example, a 3" reel has about 50 feet of film which is about a 2-3 minute video. The MovieMaker Pro takes approximately 30 minutes to convert a 3" reel. A chart is available in the instruction document linked below to help estimate the time it will take to convert based on the size of your film reel.
