Sewing & Embroidery

1. All patrons requesting to use the sewing equipment must have a valid full privilege Lewisville library card in good standing, and complete a training course on proper machinery usage prior to checking out the machine.
2. Makers are limited to one reservation per week per machine type. After a reservation has been used, if available, Makers can use a machine on a first come, first serve basis. The sewing equipment may be used for one, three-hour period per day. The sewing equipment must be checked out at The Hive service desk and is only available for use in The Hive.
3. Machine needles and bobbins are specific to the machines and are provided by The Hive.
4. Additional items available for use include a dress form, iron and ironing board, cutting mats, and hobby table. Sewing kits are available for checkout that include fabric shears, pinking shears, dress maker shears, measuring tape, thimble, needle threader, fabric pencils, pins, seam ripper, hand sewing needles, and rotary cutter.
5. For safety purposes, all patrons must stay with their sewing projects as they are running. Abandoned projects will be canceled.

• Patron must provide their own fabric, stabilizer, and embroidery thread.
• Machine needles and bobbins are specific to the machines and are provided by The Hive.
• Embrilliance embroidery design software is available on any of the Library's public computers or laptops.
• Patrons may bring their own design saved to a USB drive. Files must be stored on the root directory of the USB and not in a folder. Files in a folder are not recognized by the embroidery machine.

Training Required: Prior to using the embroidery machine, Makers must complete a mandatory training for this machine. Training for the embroidery machine is available online.
